ok..after a short blogging lesson from my friend nikki..here goes! working on some encaustic pieces...frustrated when i can't master an art project easily...but gettin there. very exciting learning new things (even tho its an ancient art form)..still working on that transition from "fine" art to mixed media... I'll get there....first i need to down load the pics...yikes!

went to artist breakfast for the international show @ brownsville museum early this morning with chelsea, my daughter. to my surprise one of my watercolors took the first place ribbon. a tough judge, he refused to give top ribbons in some catagories, as he didn't feel anyone qualified. a rude man who when asked for critique proceeded to basically trash my daughters work. being an artist one must have a thick skin, as we all have had to listen to harsh words, yet he could not find a kind word for her. she is such a talented artist. it ruined the show for me.

new day

my dearest friend thought i needed a blog....so here goes... it's been a sad week and while walking this morning, it's dreary and overcast, it hit me that it is a new day, a new beginning and a good time to dive head first into doing art. so i'm headed for my studio to create. as soon as my daughter helps me with the camera, i'll have photos posted.....i'm very grateful for my art, my family, my friends....and life in general .... painting the grey sky pink!!!
